Wool Market Traders… Where are they now?

It’s been six months since the Wool Market closed down for refurbishment and works are well underway to transform the historic building into a vibrant destination offering an enhanced retail and food offer to the people of Doncaster. As part of the scheme, traders who had previously been based in the Wool Market and some from the Irish Middle Market were relocated to other areas of the Market Estate so they could continue their businesses as part of the Doncaster Markets community. If you haven’t found them in their new locations yet, or you’re interested in some of what Doncaster has to offer, you can find more information below as we ask – Where are they now?


Adam’s Workwear: Stockists of a wide range of quality men’s and women’s workwear, including high visibility, dickies, tuff stuff, and portwest. Sizes going up to 5XL.

Cutz Hairdressing: Tracy has been cutting ladies and gents’ hair in Doncaster Market for over 20 years. She has recently relocated into the Corn Exchange, and offers great haircuts at very reasonable prices. Cutz operates on a ‘no appointment needed’ basis, so pop in at your own convenience and take a seat!

The Upholstery Rejuvenator: We are a small upholstery business offering a number of services which include upholstery sundries, re-upholstering furniture from small stools to dining chairs, high seat chairs, three-piece suites and any other form of upholstery within the home. We also offer services to pubs and other businesses, and recover camper vans, caravan, classic cars and boats. At the Upholstery Rejuvenator we have over 20 years of experience and offer a prompt and friendly service!

Danieleila’s Flowers:A qualified and experienced florist, specialising in and selling a wide range of artificial flowers and greenery, arrangements, florist and craft sundries and accessories including grave/cemetery plaques and ornaments, vases and pots. They do flowers for all occasions (wedding flowers, venue decorations, funeral flowers and arrangements and wreaths, Easter and Mother’s Day) or flowers for just a gift. They will create and design with you your perfect wedding flowers for your special day.

The Perfume Parlour: Come and visit us in the Corn Exchange and check out our fantastic range of perfumes, aftershaves and cosmetics for all budgets and tastes! Gemini Health: Gemini Health offers a sanctuary in the heart of Doncaster Market. Here you can enjoy massages, aromatherapy, reiki, reflexology, hypnotherapy and hopi-ear candling. Dr Shoe: Dr Shoe Repairs has been established for 32 years, and provides a variety of services including shoe repairs, key cutting, watch repairs, replacement batteries, bag repairs and scissor sharpening. Dr Shoe Repairs also has a range of sundries including polish, shoe dyes, padlocks, zip replacements, insoles, shoe horns and shoe stretching and key rings.

Toys U ‘Ad: Toys U Ad offers a wide range of toys, vinyl and collectables- if you’re looking for the unusual, they probably have it! Toys U Ad is Doncaster’s oldest and most premium collectable dealer, a stall where you can enjoy a friendly atmosphere and wide variety of eye catching memorabilia. Collections also bought and valued.

HTM Pet Food and Accessories: HTM Pet Food & Accessories sell a range of pet food, leather harnesses, fabrics, toys, shampoos, bedding and medication all at very reasonable prices. They will also deliver to your home, and if there’s anything you don’t see on the stall, they will probably be able to get it in for you!

DD’s Coffee Bar: Offering a range of tea and coffee, DD’s is a great place to go and relax while doing your shopping! They have a seating area in the historic Corn Exchange, which makes a beautiful backdrop for a coffee and a snack.

The Palette: If it’s arts and crafts supplied you’re after or original artwork from Andy, the talented proprietor, The Palette is the place for you! (Located on the upper floor of the Corn Exchange.)

Gail Sews Quick- Gail’s Alterations: Hello, I am Gail of Gail’s alterations situated upstairs in The Corn Exchange in Doncaster. I started out at Montague Burtons, at 15 and have enjoyed many years of creating and sewing for customers. The last 12 years I have been on Doncaster Market and have built up my business with many regulars, but I also enjoy meeting new customers! I am always here to help, from sewing on buttons to many types of alterations. I hope to see you soon!

GOOSE HILL (next to the Fish Market):

Domestic Direct: Domestic Direct is a long-established business which sells almost every spare part available for your domestic appliances. Delia’s Footwear: Delia’s Footwear provides a wide range of ladies and gent’s shoes and slippers, catering for standard and wider fits, going up to EEEE (ultra wide) fitting. They sell safety footwear for both men and women, and boast a large variety of ladies slippers. Delia has run the business for the last 6 years, but the stall has been trading for over 15 years!

Roy’s Babywear and Nursery Products: Roy’s Babywear and Nursery Products is a beautiful stall offering a comprehensive collection of baby and toddler-wear. They have been trading at Doncaster Market for over 60 years, and provide a full range of baby and children’s wear including traditional English frill dresses, occasion wear, a compliment of Christening suits, outfits to cater for more formal occasions and party wear, featuring top brands from England Spain and Portugal. Nursery goods and accessories include Moses Baskets, footmuffs and liners, with everything you need for the early years covering New-born through to Pre-school Toddler age. Roy’s babywear always offers friendly service and expert advice, drop in and see for yourself!

Jackson’s Arts and Crafts: Jackson’s Arts & Crafts offers a wide range of arts and craft supplies from Debbie Moore, Hunkydory, paper crafting to Fimo clay, Katie Sue moulds to cross stitch, sets of watercolours and children’s crafts.

Flossie and Fred: flossie and Fred have been on Doncaster market for 10 years. We mainly sell all kinds of pre-loved books. Books on railways, military, cookery, handicrafts, dictionaries, travel etc and of course paperbacks for those times you put your feet up and enjoy a good read…

We also sell old railway, motorcycle and all sorts of magazines. Fred is the man to go to for books, scarfs, bandanas, costume jewellery, compacts, ornaments, vases, keyrings, even a corkscrew! come for a look round your bound to find something you can’t go home without.

Highway 61: Highway 61 sells and deals with quality die cast models including classic cars, aircraft and motorcycles. This is a great stall to find unusual and sometimes rare items, perfect for a collector. The stock which can be found here is always on view and changes frequently, meaning no two visits are the same! Not only can you collect items here, Highway 61 has many years experience of collecting knowledge, which they are always happy to share with their customers.

Adrian’s Pets: Adrian’s Pets is a long established pet food and accessories business, trading from Doncaster Market for over 30 years. They offer a full range of dog collars, leads, beds and much more at probably the best prices anywhere!

The Bag Stall: The Bag Stall has been trading on Doncaster Market for over 30 years. We are a family business and proud to be trading on Doncaster Market. The stall offers a range of bags and luggage products for all occasions; practical, fashionable and professional from bags, belts, purses and wallets to passport holders, key rings, shopping trolleys, holdalls, backpacks and luggage. Johnson’s Toffees: Toffee and Fudge made in the proper, traditional way using quality Yorkshire ingredients to give you a taste of the good old days with a modern twist, still at a very affordable price. Johnson’s is a seventy-year-old family firm spanning four generations, and their toffee and fudge has had a similarly long history on Doncaster Market. We stock a wide variety of tempting flavours of toffees and fudges including original, peanut butter, cinder toffee, cough candy, Scottish tablet and coconut ice!
