Changes are afoot at Doncaster Market, with Doncaster Council set to revamp the jewel in the crown of the town centre, the famous Wool Market.
The work to transform the Wool Market into a vibrant and bustling location is set to begin in early 2018. Plans include renovating the Wool Market, giving a complete makeover to the building which will also enable the market to host more events, encouraging more people into the area.
In anticipation of the works beginning, traders who are usually based in the Wool Market and some traders from the nearby Irish Middle Market can now be found in their temporary new home in either the Grade II listed Corn Exchange, Goosehill Market or the International Food Hall. All a stone’s throw from the Wool Market and still in Market Square.
There is something for everyone at Doncaster Market. Visit the International Food Hall and the outdoor market for the freshest fruit and veg, every type of fish imaginable, from swordfish and shark to cod and haddock, as well as butchers which carry a variety of meats including speciality sausage, award winning pies, venison and boar, along with delicatessen and cheeses.
The Corn Exchange is home to a wide variety of quality goods including fashion, work wear, furnishings, clothing alterations, shoe repairs, art supplies, baby wear, collectables and make up. There is also a café to stop and enjoy a well-earned break.
